American Cancer Society – Taste of Hope

April 28, 2009 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC, the American Cancer Society hosted the Fourth Annual Taste of Hope event which raised over $155,000! Taste of Hope is cocktail-type atmosphere with 40 participating restaurants stationed throughout the venue, presenting a tasting of their choice of dishes, as well as wine, spirits, and beverage tastings. A silent auction helped raise funds for the ACS with items from sports memorabilia to fashion items. It was a fun event with a great cause!

A Magical Evening – Christopher Reeve Foundation Gala

The Christopher Reeve Foundation “A Magical Evening” Gala was held November 6, 2006 in New York, NY. The Christopher Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.

“We all know that it is not a disability or diagnosis that defines a man or woman, but how you chose to live your life. With Chris and Dana it was never ‘why me’, but I’m ‘still me’.
-Christopher Reeve Foundation President and CEO Kathy Lewis, seen here with Matthew, Alexandra and Will Reeve.

Cristina Carlino, the Founder and CEO of philosophy, inc. was presented the Dana Reeve HOPE Award last night. Here she is sharing a gift with the Reeve children.

The Gala was co-hosted by Harvey Fierstein and Bebe Neuwirth.

The Jersey Boys were among the entertainment and guest list.

Jenn Gambatese from Tarzan and Curtis Cregan.

Meryl Streep hopped on stage as Donny Osmond tried to encourage Nathan Lane to perform a Beauty and the Beast skit.

Barbara Walters introduced a video tribute to the legendary Reeve couple.

The hope and the work of the Christopher Reeve Foundation was demonstrated last night when 3-year-old Chase Ford took the stage. As Chase’s mother Renee Ford explained, Chase was paralyzed from the neck down in an accident just 18-months ago. Through the Foundation’s funding of their NeuroRecovery Network Chase walked across the stage and waved to the audience.

Joe Torre’s Safe at Home® Foundation

On Thursday, July 13, 2006, I helped photograph a fundraiser at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor New York for the Safe at Home® Foundation. The Foundation was established by Joe Torre in memory of his mother in 2002 to raise money for domestic violence. The goal of the foundation is to educate youth about domestic violence, hoping that by starting young we can break the cycle and save lives.

Other work for the organization includes working with Ferris Photography to document the Foundation’s Annual Gala.
